Does your community have and indoor atrium or garden? If so, make sure that you take advantage of it. A stroll through tropical gardens will give you an immediate lift.
We are fortunate to have Butterfly Gardens in our community. Butterfly Gardens is an exotic garden housing butterflies, flamingos, parrots, turtles, carp, and many other creatures, as well as an amazing array of tropical flora. The Banana Trees are a definite favourite for the kids. As soon as one walks through the doors you are enveloped by a deep, humid warmth and surrounded by tropical aromas.
We have an annual pass and make it our quick get away for days like today. Children under five are free.

If you are not lucky enough to have such an indoor jungle nearby, make a tropic themed day at your own home. Sunshine your house up with lights, Hawaiian music or wave sounds, and then lay out your favourite colourful beach towels on the living room floor. Instead of a floor picnic, have a luau! Include pupus (Hawaiian snacks) of pineapple chunks, coconut water to sip dried papaya strips, tuna fish sandwich pieces, and crackers. TIP: Dollar stores are great places to store up on a couple of pop-up palm trees to have on hand for days just like today.
No matter how you do it - take a trip to the tropics today!
