#87 Bananas for Ice cream that is REALLY Bananas!

If you would like a cool, delicious, alternative to ice cream, try "making" ice cream with bananas!

Feels good because it is healthy, tasty, and easy to make!

Simply slice up two bananas and lay them on a tray or shallow container, and freeze.  Once they are frozen, blend them in your blender or food processor.

Next, scoop out and serve!

#74 Freezer Fare for Simplicity During Busy Times

Freezer Fare

When I come upon sites of interest and helpfulness, I like to pass them on.

One of the greatest gifts during the holidays for me is organization (ha ha ha!).  While most of my life is running by the seat of my pants at these times, healthy food is a priority.  Perhaps it is too late to share with you my thoughts on freezer fare, if so, keep them in mind for your future.

My thoughts are very simple:

Freezer fare that you prepare can be very:

(1) Convenient
(2) Healthy
(3) Tasty
(4) Easy to make
(5) Economical

A few of my favourites are casseroles and soups.  Here is a link to a posting on Natalie Hodson's Healthy Living Blog with handy easy to make recipes:

This week's quote:

"Once you have a clear picture of your priorities – that is your values, goals and high leverage activities, organize around them"

#19 Eat Your Veggies and Fruits - Farmshare

Local Fresh Vegetables & Fruit

As a young one were you not told to eat your veggies?  And wasn't in-season fruit a special treat?

You may be that much older, but eating right now is just as important as it was back then.  Perhaps even more so in some ways, in that as a Mom you need to be your healthiest to look out for your family

The Benefits of Buying Local and being part of a Farm Share/Box Program
  • You are getting fresh in-season produce to feed your family.
  • Because the food is local it is fresh, and guess what?  Fresh = tastier!
  • Supporting local farmers means you are supporting the local economy.  What goes around comes around.
  • It cuts down on the carbon footprint and reduces the waste materials of packaging.
  • Nutritious and Delicious!

For those of you in the Greater Victoria Region you may want to check out Saanich Organics and their Box Delivery Program.  Saanich Organics is committed to providing folks with as much delicious and healthy organic produce as they can.
