# 2 Spruce things up - follow your nose!

My two year old son got me on to this "feel good" trick - a cost effective, all natural bit of aromatherapy...

Walking down the driveway to the barnyard is a daily ritual for us. The roadway is lined with all sorts of trees and bushes, my son's favourite thing is to point eagerly up at the spruce trees until I break off a wee, little branch, give it to him ,he smells it and then passes it back to me.

As I take in the scent my mind instantly conjures up happy memories of past Christmases, and also past summers- the the feeling of freedom you get when you hike through the mountain woods on a hot summer day with the warm scents of pine, spruce, and fir all rising from the forest floor all around you.

The smell has both a calming and an invigorating affect. Take this one step further, and break of some branches, crumble theme in the palm of your hand, and keep them close by, when you need a reminder to destress.

What we can learn from our little ones!
