#29 Word Power

Use your words wisely and let your words work for you

Do you have any sayings, slogans,  or catch phrases that you use to instantly change your thoughts and/or feelings?  If you do, then you will know the impact words can have on our state of mind.

Feeling frustrated about something that has happened?   Ask yourself:  How Important Is It?

About to step up to take the role of facilitator at a group meeting or a public speaking engagement and are feeling tummy twinges and a drop in confidence?  Tell yourself to:  Fake It Till You Make It!

Up yet again (sigh) for another feeding in the wee hours of the morning?  You are simply exhausted and just want to sleep!  Tell yourself: This Too Shall Pass  and your will instantly find a new appreciation for this special bonding time with baby. Yes you are still tired, no getting around that, that is the reality of having babies - It Is What It Is - so sit back on the couch, get comfy, and gaze out at the starry night while your sweet baby nourishes him/herself back to sleep.

You are staring at your To Do list and are beginning to feel paralyzed - where to begin?  Take a breath and tell yourself Easy Does It.   Remember... be gentle with yourself.

Do you have a habit of interrupting or speaking fast so that your voice will be heard by others?  If so you may want to Listen and Learn.

Let Go And Let God when you feel overwhelmed.  This was a saying my Grandma frequently used.  I find it really works to help me recognize that I can not control all that I wish.  It also releases me from spending precious energy of trying to, to no avail.  Letting go is a very liberating feeling.

Perhaps you have special quotations that help you.  Here is a favourite of mine that helps me live in the moment:

"Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes.  Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow.  Let reality be reality.  Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like."  - Lao Tzu

Words are powerful.  Words are inspirational - they touch our spirit, our core.

What words inspire you to create positive change?
