# 3 Taking Stock of the Power of Little Delights

Taking stock of the little delights that life has to offer us can do us wonders. What can do even more, I find, is taking stock of the little delights that our children embrace. For instance....

Yesterday from the time our son woke up his mind was on one thing and one thing only - pumpkins!!!! All morning all that I heard was his sweet little two year voice constantly questioning me "pumkin?" to add to his cuteness, in a way to get me on side of course, was the way he would tilt his head to the side while saying "pumkin?".

When his voice was no longer heard, I glanced over to see what had surely taken over his pumpkin preoccupation, and there he was sitting on the floor with his Barn Book turned to the page, with, you guessed it - pumpkins!

Our little Pumpkin Pie (he thinks that is his second name, I suppose that doesn't help) caught me glancing his way and up he jumped and followed me around the house continuing his plea for pumpkins.

It was a gorgeous, sunny day, so I thought what a great destination - the local Pumpkin Patch Farm stand - so for a drive we went so that our Pumpkin could choose his very own pumpkin.

This morning he is still delighted with this smooth orange globe of Autumn's gift.

The next step is to make pumpkin pie and do you know what? It will be the best pumpkin pie ever because not only is it made with fresh pumpkin, but it is made with the love and enthusiasm for life that children seem to possess.
